The Critter Corner Barnyard
A Rare Educational Asset
Established in 1992, Critter Corner has been part of Seawell life for more than 30 years. A variety of animals have called it home over the course of its history. Today, Seawell students go to school alongside goats, rabbits, chickens, and ducks.
This permanent, on-campus barnyard and learning space is an exceptionally rare feature at a neighborhood public elementary school.
Critter Corner gives children direct opportunities to observe animal behavior, learn what living things need, and understand the responsibility involved in caring for them. Funded by the Seawell PTA and sustained by trained family volunteers, it is both an educational resource and a long-standing community commitment.
