In 2026, the Seawell Elementary PTA received a $2,990 Community Grant from Labcorp to purchase an Ozobot Evo Classroom Kit with 18 coding robots.
The grant fully funded the classroom set requested by Seawell’s Digital Learning Coach, transforming a planned enrichment project into a hands-on learning resource for Seawell students.
Ozobots are small programmable robots that introduce students to coding in two engaging and approachable ways:
Screen-free Color Codes: Students draw lines and color sequences that tell the robots when to move, turn, change speed and complete other actions.
Block-based programming: Students create programs by arranging coding blocks, allowing them to progress to more complex sequences, behaviors and challenges.
With 18 robots, an entire class can participate by working in pairs or small groups. Students have meaningful opportunities to experiment, collaborate, test their ideas and learn from mistakes, not simply watch a demonstration.
Through their work with the Ozobots, students practice:
Computational thinking and foundational coding skills
Logical reasoning, sequencing and debugging
Creative problem-solving
Collaboration and communication
Persistence through testing and revision
The Seawell PTA is deeply grateful to Labcorp for investing in hands-on STEM learning at Seawell Elementary. This 2026 Community Grant fully funded the classroom kit, placing 18 coding robots directly into students’ hands and creating a reusable learning resource that will benefit Seawell students for years to come.
