Help Grow the Garden 🌿

Seawell’s Learning Garden is home to many plants, fruit trees, and vegetables! Students will have opportunities throughout the year to visit and work in the garden. Parents and families can also get involved by helping with garden work outside of school hours. No gardening experience or regular commitment required. Announcing: The Garden Guardians After School 2026 Fall Session!

Join fellow budding horticulturalists after school for eight Thursdays of hands-on learning in the Seawell Learning Garden.

Dates: Weekly on Thursdays, September 17 – November 5
Program time: After school until 4:10 p.m.
Pickup: 4:15 p.m. in the carpool line
Cost: $160 for the eight-week session (Partial/Pro-rated sessions may be available after September 17, pending availability)
Enrollment: Limited to 12 students total across grades 2–5

Students will use the Seawell Learning Garden and classroom space to explore botany, planting techniques, soil health, food production, wildlife-friendly gardening, a little cooking, teamwork, and responsibility. Returning participants will work with new plants while continuing to help expand our garden areas.

Seawell parent and garden coordinator Elizabeth Zander will lead the program with support from Master Gardener volunteers through N.C. Cooperative Extension.

Seawell PTA is committed to ensuring that every interested student is able to participate. If the program cost is a concern, scholarships are available. Families may contact Jodeci Farrington, Seawell Social Worker, at jfarrington@chccs.k12.nc.us.

Pollinator Garden

The Pollinator Garden is a parent-run project located at the front of the school at the bus circle.
